Converting Jeff Gordon to a Beer Drinker

Yes, Jeff Gordon has his own wine label. What is you wanted to convert this wine buff to a beer buff? Ron Ripple writes a great post at his blog discussing the 7 steps to converting Jeff Gordon from a wine to beer drinker. It’s hilarious as he prompts Jeff to “Do a Keg Stand”, “Funnel a Beer,” and “Invite Friends Over for Beer Pong.” Let’s hope his hand eye coordination is as good as his driving.

At NASCAR racetracks, a second Cup race is prized

NASCAR chairman and CEO Brian France praised Kansas Speedway’s performance as a big-time racing facility this week and said it was worthy of a second Sprint Cup race each year.

“I think it (Kansas Speedway) is certainly capable of hosting a second date,” France told The Star. “They would do great, should the opportunity of a second date present itself.”

That’s important, because France will play a key role in determining whether the track will be granted a second race if a Hard Rock Casino and Hotel is built overlooking turn two.

Busch Wines Sonoma Race - Join the Club

Hey race fans. So, a driver, named after a beer has taken the checkered flag in the land of wine! Kyle Busch sprinted for two strong laps to take his 11th wine this season.

So what did we drink during the race? In our efforts to explore more wine clubs, I asked my Pit Crew, where we should join next. Our wine clubs expert, sent us down the path of California wine this month - perfect timing for the Sonoma Race. We paid a visit to Field Stone Winery and Vineyard. I first discovere their wines through a wine of the month club selection, and now had the opportunity to buy from them direct. The winery is small, underground and fascinating. That being said their wines had the unique approach of a boutique label. I recommend their 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon which proved to be my race drink of choice.

NASCAR - Beat the Summer Heat with White Wines

You’re driving for 500 miles on a 90+ degree race track in layers of clothing… must be nice to be a NASCAR driver in the dog days of summer. With the heat index on top of that, cooling off is essential. This also include for those in the grandstands and watching the race at home! It’s summer wine time and what better way to celebrate than cooling off with some white wines. What to look for in a summer “race track” white wine? Something crisp and refreshing, without too much heat should do the drink. No Super Tuscans this month! Let’s go for low alcohol wines with some fruit flavors. My first two choices are Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc white wines to fight the heat (and as always a nice Pinot Grigio can always fit the bill). So, leave the reds in the cellar for a few months, and cool off with refreshing white wines this summer.

WE are the new WINE demographic, race fans.

Gone are the days of downing a Busch beer at the finish line. If Jeff Gordon and countless others are showing the world - WINE spans across all sports fans. Cheers to all my wine fans… see you at the races! Also, keep your eyes open for the Jeff Gordon Collection label wines… they most likely will go, fast.

Wondering what I’m drinking for the next race… I’m actually testing out the California Wine Club International Series which is sending me 1 red and 1 white a month. I just signed up, so we’ll see what this wine club has to offer us race fans… hopefully something high octane.
